The IP code standard is meant to help provide users more detailed information than vague marketing terms such as waterproof.
Example: an IP code of "IP68" indicates that the product is completely protected from dust (6) and is protected from liquid (8).
Below is a set of tables to help decipher the code. Further information can be found form online sources such as wikipedia.org.
The first number indicates the solid particle protection of the enclosure.
The second number indicates liquid ingress protection.
