Q. Do Remsafe Window Locks comply with NSW strata legislation?
A. Yes. The entire Remsafe range complies with the legislation and was independently tested by a NATA approved testing facility.
Q. Can I still open my window to its full extent?
A. Yes. All Remsafe products can be unlocked to open the window to its full extent.
Q. What windows require a lock?
A. Any window where the the internal floor beneath an openable window is 2m or more above the outside surface beneath; and the lowest level of the window is less than 1.7m above the internal floor.
Q. Is a compliance certificate required?
A. There is no requirement under NSW Strata Legislation for locksmiths to provide certification that their installations are compliant. However, some customers may require a certificate confirming the use of compliant products.
Q. Do my windows have to be permanently restricted?
A. No. Windows do not have to be permanently restricted. However, if the safety device can be unlocked or removed it must have a child resistant release mechanism. All Remsafe products comply with this requirement.
Q. Does each window need to be force tested?
A. No. NSW legislation requires only that the device be tested to withstand a force of 250N. If the window is in poor condition, the installer should recommend repair or replacement.
Q. Do louvre windows need to be restricted?
A. If the opening distance between the louvres is 12.5 cm or greater, then a safety device must be installed
